AMD Opens the Source Code for FSR 2.0 to the Public©

Today marks the one year anniversary of AMD's launch of FSR 'FidelityFX Super Resolution' technology, and to commemorate the milestone, the company has released the FSR 2.0 source code. In the near future, the "DLSS competitor" will appear in a lot more games.

FSR 2.0 is a scaling technology that uses temporal reconstruction algorithms to restore details from previous frames

'' Today marks a year since gamers have been able to experience AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution technology with our spatial upscaling tool, FSR 1. With the introduction of FSR 2, our temporal upscaling solution earlier this year, over 110 games now support FSR . The pace of adoption of this technology has been very impressive - FSR is AMD's fastest-growing software gaming technology to date. Therefore, it seems fitting that we choose this anniversary day to share the source code for FSR 2, opening up the possibility for every game developer to integrate FSR 2 if they wish and add their game to the 24 games that have already declared support. As always, the source code is available through GPUOpen under the MIT license and you can find links to it on our dedicated FSR 2 page.''

FSR 2 supports DirectX 12 and Vulkan, and plugins for Unreal Engine 4.26/4.27 and Unreal Engine 5 are coming very soon. It will also be available through the Xbox Game Development Kit.

Note that FSR 1 can still be set as a native scaling option in addition to FSR 2 in game credits. Both technologies have different characteristics that may suit a wider range of platforms and user preferences. Download FSR 2 here
