FIFA expands national teams' bids for 2022 World Cup

The head coaches of the national teams participating in the 2022 World Cup will be able to take more performers to Qatar than at previous world championships.

This decision was made by the Bureau of the FIFA Council, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to the official website of the organization.

The functionaries of the International Football Federation have made a number of changes related to the upcoming planetary forum. First of all, FIFA has increased the number of players in the applications of national teams.

Now the coaching staffs of national teams can count on 26 performers. Previously, 23 were taken to the tournament. The maximum number of players in the previous lists has also increased - from 35 to 55.

In addition, now a maximum of 26 people can be on the bench during World Cup matches. A dozen of them are spares. There must be at least one doctor among the rest of the staff.

All organizational changes were explained by the FIFA president and the heads of six confederations by the prolonged coronavirus pandemic and the density of the football calendar. In particular, the participants of the tournament must play the last official match for the 2022 World Cup no later than November 13.

The World Cup, meanwhile, will start on November 21st. The opening match of the tournament will be the duel between the teams of Senegal and the Netherlands.

Recall that FIFA has presented the official poster of the 2022 World Cup.
